CREATIVE INTERVALS
These intervals can be traced to the beginning of my work. They are a
recurrent return to assemblage works. They are not formalistic because I
base these works on the absolute contrast between the elements which
constitute them in terms of matter, texture, colour and shape. The aim is
to examine matter in sculpture, constructions, and even in painting; I
therefore use highly contrasting and often disparate materials which I
have been collecting for years from ail sorts of places. My art continues
to
be structured on contrasts and this part of my work is, perhaps, an
outburst of such contrasts.
"Stories within a square", 1994-97. Each of these works is an
independent unit. When used together in sets, they form environments
which recount the development of a thought.

I use the same shape - the
square - and the same frame in perspective, in contrast with the content
which repudiates any standardization in composition.
I regard art as an exercise in discipline, a lesson in freedom and,
above ail, as a way to set our imagination free.
