Biography

I was born in Bulle a small city of the Swiss Prealps, surrounded by mountains, fields and forests. Jacob my father, owned a garage. Louise my mother, a widow of a first marriage had already three children. She helped him manage his company. Together they had Anne, my elder sister and myself.

Thirteen years ago my mother passed away. Fortunately I was still very closed to my father until his death at the end of 2005. At 92 years old he was still a very busy man. He has a passion for mechanics and engineering. He expresses his creativity as well as his sense of esthetic by sculpting iron and gardening. He always showed interest relating to my work

Carlos Ward, an outstanding musician, has been my partner and the love of my life for the past 25 years. When he is not on tour troughout the world he shares his time between Geneva and New York. His music has always been for me a great source of inspiration and hapiness. We are soul mates as much as we share a passion for our respective art.

Art in any form has always been a part of my universe. Travelling too. After leaving Switzerland for Lyon where I spent four years, I moved to Brazil. This represented a first step or, in a way, a first cultural shock for me. That is when I really started feeling close to the poor and the outcasts of our world. This feeling of compassion led me to working for the International Comitee of the Red Cross. This newjob made me experience extreme situations while I was trying to help the needy.

I had to go trough the storms and thunders of life, the burning sun of Africa or the soothing freshness of Tibet to realized, reaching my forty, that painting was really the way I wanted to express myself. Klee, Tapies, Schumacher or Chu Ten Chun are some of the painters whose work moved and inspired me. The mysterious world of micro-organism or the beauty of places I visited, delighted my heart and eyes and became other sources of inspiration.

During the last years my work evolved. I now paint mosstly with oil and developped a more personal way of expressing myself, in a more lyric way. Currently, full of energy, I am inspired by a more special and aerial vision of universes that surrounds us. I seek to create new sensitive relationships, both imaginary and poetic, between elements and various universes, trying to find new visions, other horizons and inviting people to discover and to learn from them.
I paint by materializing the only important thing for me to share: a vision of love, hope and dreams.
