The Swiss artist Rolf Winnewisser (*1949) achieved success early in his career, was promoted by important curators and art critics, and had close ties with artists like Aldo Walker, Urs Lüthi, Martin Disler and Hugo Sute. His work is marked by a great leaning towards the minute detail, towards insinuation and fragmentation, and include not only painting, drawing and installations but also literature and film. The exhibition provides the first opportunity to see a comprehensive survey of this suggestive oeuvre.

Mark Wallinger (*1959), winner of the 2007 Turner Prize, will show his most important works of the past years in this large survey exhibition. Wallinger is one of Great Britain's most internationally famous artists, not least since his impressive appearance at the 2001 Venice Biennale. In his intelligent and partly humorous works he addresses current social themes, using different media such as painting, video or installations to focus on issues relating to religion, politics and cultural identity, which are of relevance to us all.

The Aargauer Kunsthaus is creating a new platform for young Swiss artists who are only at the start of their careers. It is intended as a place of encounter between the public and a young art scene and artistic positions which are not yet established.
