United States Kentucky, Lexington - Contests, Juried Art Shows, Art Organization
The American Academy of Equine Art call for artists for its 2008 Fall Open Juried Exhibition of original work depicting the horse in any setting. Oil, acrylic, watercolor pastel, drawing and sculpture pieces may be entered. The show will be held September 19 through November 2, 2008 at the International Museum of the Horse, Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, KY. Up to 10 awards of $250 to be offered. Open to all artists 18 and older. Non-refundable $40 fee covers up to three entries.

We are currently accepting entries for the 2008 Art Kudos competition. The Art Kudos competition is an annual international juried competition that serves to recognize and honor excellence in the visual arts. The Craft Museum in Krosno /Poland/ invites linen cloth artists from Poland and abroad, students of the 4th and 5th year as well as the last year's art graduates of Polish universities to take part in the 5th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial 'Z krosna do Krosna' and the premiere competition 'Z krosna do Krosna' - DEBUTS 2008.
'Z krosna do Krosna' Biennial has been organised since 2000. It has met an enthusiastic reception not only from the artists but also from art critics. It is fact that the Biennial has been noticed by the artistic circles concerned with linen cloth and, what is very important, treated as a competition of considerable importance. Participation of artists from many countries of the world /Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Island, Israel, Japan, Canada, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Hungary, and Italy/ shows great prestige of this event. It is worth mentioning that Krosno Biennial is the only event of this kind held in the Podkarpacie region, and one of few such events in Poland promoting contemporary art that originates from weaving.
With the 5th edition of the Biennial we would like to welcome young artists that work in the field of linen cloth. 'Z krosna do Krosna' - DEBUTS 2008 competition is aimed at opening up opportunity for making their professional exhibit debut, which would be accompanied by the promotion of young artists and the youngest linen art.
The 5th International Artistic Linen Cloth Biennial 'Z krosna do Krosna' together with the accompanying competition for young artists 'Z krosna do Krosna'- DEBUTS 2008 will be held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski.They also won the support of the Marshal of Podkarpackie Voivodeship and the President of Krosno. The event is held under the scientific patronage of Prof. Irena Huml of the Institute of Art Polish Academy of Science, and the media patronage of the Polish Web Portal of the Managers of Culture: Zarzadzaniekultura.pl and a web portal Kulturaonline.pl

History: 5th International Artist s Book Triennial Vilnius 2009 is organised as a continuation of the last Triennials. The 1st International Artist s Book Triennial took part in 1997, in Gallery Kaire Desine .
The theme of it was Diary: Eight Days .
65 artists from 13 countries took part in the Triennial.
The 2nd International Artist s Book Triennial took part in 2000, in Gallery Arka and in Galerie 5020 in Salzburg.
The theme of it was Apocalypse . 138 artists from 29 countries took part in the Triennial.
The 3rd International Artist s Book Triennial took part in 2003, in the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius.
The theme of it was 23 Sins . 118 artists from 37 countries took part in the Triennial. After the exhibition in Vilnius the Triennial was showed in 2004 in Frankfurt Art Fair in Frankfurt on Main, Germany; in 2004 in Thomas Mannas House in Nida, Lithuania; in 2004 in Gallery Le Carre in Lille, France; The 4th International Artist s Book Triennial took part in 2006, in the Gallery Arka in Vilnius. The theme of it was Rabbit and House . 130 artists from 29 countries took part in the Triennial. After the exhibition in Vilnius the Triennial was showed in 2007 in Leipzig Book Fair in Leipzig, Germany; in 2007 in Seoul International Book Arts Fair in Seoul, South Korea.
Future: After the end of the exhibition in Vilnius, 5th Triennial is planned to be moved in Europe, also we plane to show it in Sydney Art on Paper Fair in Australia and in Seoul International Book Arts Fair in Seoul, South Korea.
Conditions: 1. We invite all artists to participate.
2. Participating is free of charge.
3. Artists are invited to send up to 3 books, either traditional books or books objects.
4. Works and entry forms must be sent till the 15th of November 2008. On the 25th of November 2008, judges solely from the artist s books will select works for the exhibition, created according the announced theme.
5. Applicant shall cover all the necessary expenses for subscription, such as shipping cost, insurance, etc.
6. Please write the value for customs no more 30 USD or 30 euro.
7. Catalogue: The organisers will publish the catalogue. As usually it will be printed in typography and bounded by hands like an artist s book. Catalogues will be available at 25 euro / 35 USD per copy on request. International money order will be accepted for payment. Entrants who will be accepted to the Triennial and will donated artist s book to the Permanent Collection of Bokartas receive the catalogue free of charge.
8. Sending and returning of works: Works will be returned only to entrants who request so in the entry form. Artists require to prepay the return postage by International money order. Payment with International post coupon is not acceptable.

10. Miscellaneous: The organiser retains the rights to photograph and print photographs of works for use in catalogues, in web, public relations and advertisements of the exhibition.
