ON THE WAY TO THE ABSOLUTE

WORKS OF ART SUPPOSE AN INFINITE LONELINESS; THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN CRITICISM TO TACKLE THEM. ONLY LOVE CAN CATCH THEM, KEEP THEM, AND BE FAIR WITH THEM.
RAINER MARIA RILKE

What a rare privilege to meet both the work of art and the artist in the lightning of the moment, on the one hand the artist and his tireless quest for the absolute and this dialogue with the subtlety, the lightness, the grace and on the other hand the silent presence on the painting nonetheless the attention ........ and the meeting occurs ....... dazzling with truth.

YVES FRIEDERICH carries us in the crossing of talent, intuition and instinct, to get over the frontiers of the trip in the heart of oneself, in the heart of the mystery of the creation.

“To catch this energy that makes life, I paint until my painting becomes a being”.

Space and movement relate according to beats, rhythms, contradictions, oppositions in the shape and the tonality. Strong waves according to a well-mastered tempo impose un actual breath, a pulsation. Energy flows.

The work of art appears then as an advent, a birth.

For sure the vital energy contained in the moment can be revealed, YVES FRIEDERICH bets on the power of the life knots, little areas of vibratory density so that energy springs and radiates in the awareness of its fulfilment and its reality of BEING.

The artist can see in it “ an actual source where appear the conscience points which spread the spirit of the painting getting achieved or disappeared..”

“There is no effort staying in the lightness : shapes and colours can be rich without being heavy, the movement is present to keep this lightness. That movement is engraved in the time : that is the existential movement, the one which quivers with the wind in the branches of my trees....”

In touch with the tiny trembling carried in its light-point, always higher, at the top, where the leaf joins the HUGE in the firmament of the touch, in the union of the shadow and the light of the smoothness and the vein.... YVES FRIEDERICH is only a presence at the moment, a permanent captation. YVES FRIEDERICH is a contemplative in touch with the wonderful shivering of the time :the one that makes bit the pulse of the seasons in the heart of the sovereign nature, in Ariège where he has chosen to live and create.

“Because the same being is changing day after day, I paint for what I meet and I leave : between doubts and certainties..... I am coming into the sphere of influence....”

When the work of art is not engraved in the permanence and the timelessness, then the work on the canvas, like the work on oneself appears in” the sphere of influens”. As a means to explore oneself, to reveal to himself, YVES FRIEDERICH proceeds in successive coverings and transparencies.

Is it a transformation or a rebirth?

“The transparencies in my paintings are there to show the shapes in the process of evolution, of ceaseless evolution.” Then, the spirit of the painting remains extremely present, it is watchful beyond the veil, engraved for ever in the vivid memory of a multidimensional world.

“I intend to paint and give a spirit to the material.”

When YVES FRIED ERICH pretends to “spiritualize the material”, it is because he asserts that the material and the spirit are not necessarily opposed as if the soul reappeared in the whole life, in everything. So the surge of the material reveals an energy made with sensitiveness, tension, excitement : witnesses of the extreme changeableness of the being and his inner rhythms.

Convinced of the necessity to open perspectives, to broaden the fields of consciousness, YVES FRIEDERICH dialogs with abstract art and has signs at his disposal which are for him an actual vocabulary, the organization of a language. A line of light, small spots are emphasized here, as if it had to introduce a speech....

“The looker is involved and can choose to participate in the flowering of the work : I invite him to paint .”

The juxtaposition of some works in diptychs or triptychs stresses a phenomenon of polarity and complementarity if the paintings were obeying a secret order.... endowing a deep unity to the whole work. This energy which goes about from a world to another one endlessly, a proof that nothing is ever ended, invites the look to go on off-camera, detached.

Although a work of art is finished, it is always unfinished : YVES FRIEDERICH invites us to see the ways of setting new targets, of reaching the absolute in the mirror of the universe.

We could relate his work of art to creations of gemstone-colored worlds under marvellous telluric pressures, or to a vegetable microcosm where any trembling, any crumpling, any tear , any variegated shade takes part in” the virginity of the world”, in “the iridescent chaos”.....
