Art Off The Main
African, Caribbean and Latin American Art Fair | ||
|
October 2 - 5, 2008
Metropolitan Pavilion Chelsea New York City |
The fair showcases the best in Contemporary African, Caribbean and Latin American Art. The first fair ever to showcase the combined works from these three regions which share some historical, ethnic and political experiences resulting in cultural expressions with common element.
Art Off The Main is the first and to date the only, international Caribbean fine art fair and one of only two art fairs in the United States that spotlights Latin American Art and the only art fair to spotlight contemporary African art. This trendsetting art fair has now inspired other fairs. But it will always remain “the first” The name of the fair, Art Off The Main, speaks to the fact that many of the artists showcased, in spite of highly accomplished works, are for the most part either under-represented or absent from the American mainstream. Art Off The Main provides curators, critics and collectors an opportunity to view and collect some of the most exciting works being produced today, art which ranges from the intuitive to the modern, the traditional to the experimental, the realist to the surrealist, the political to the religious. |

| The Los Angeles Asian & Tribal Arts Show | ||
![]() |
November 14 - 15, 2009
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium Main Street & Pico Boulevard Santa Monica, CA |
Originating in 1991 this show was the pioneer, the very first of its kind where internationally renowned dealers/galleries had the opportunity to travel from distant corners of the earth, converge in the west and exhibit their rare, ancient and often museum quality collections. Their exotic displays transported patrons back in time for a mystical and mesmerizing journey through the powerful yet delicate beauty of more than 2000 years of Asian Art history. Over the years, we watched the surge of interest that each yearly exhibit excited and found ourselves equally inspired. In order to fulfill the market demand we expanded the exhibition of this significant period of art history by creating shows like this in New York City and then San Francisco.

| The American Art Fair |
December 1 - 4, 2008
at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts , 1083 Fifth Avenue |
The American Art Fair
Last summer, Thomas Colville and Alexander Acevedo came up with the idea to hold a small show at the academy during the week of the auctions to show collectors that the dealers had depth of stock and often better examples than they could find at auction and at more reasonable prices.
Colville and Acevedo invited their clients to come, there was no admission, and they held an elegant opening party on Sunday night, November 30, the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Some wondered who would come at such a time, but there was a huge crowd (even though it rained cats and dogs), and people really looked at pictures and engaged the dealers in discussion while enjoying wine and exquisite food by Feast & Fetes. |
